FRIENDS AND LIARS by Kit Frick, is a twisty, darkly glamorous thriller out from Atria/Emily Bestler Books on December 2, 2025. Kit talks to Authorlink’s Doris Booth about her latest work, publishing journey, and the difference between writing for for different age groups. Kit reveals her most comfortable place to write, how fast she completes her first drafts, and how many times she was rejected by agents and editors before finding her publishing home at Simon & Schuster.

Kit is the author of several critically-acclaimed YA novels, and last year she made a splashy debut in the adult space with The Split, receiving glowing reviews from The New York Times Book Review (“great fun”), The Boston Globe (“both plots had me gasping“), Elle (“clever“), and more. Kit’s forthcoming adult thriller, FRIENDS AND LIARS, taps into similarly complex, multi-POV narratives, but this time in a lavish, luxurious-beyond-all-belief setting: the Italian lake-side palazzo of the wealthy Monroe family, renown Hollywood producers who have gone to great lengths to obtain and secure their power.

For five years, best friends Luca, Harper, Sirina, and David have harbored a dark secret about their college roommate, heiress Clare Monroe—their lies and misdeeds led to her tragic death on New Year’s Eve at her family’s fabulous Italian estate. Their desperate decision to conceal the truth behind that night destroyed their once-close bond, but now, the estranged friends are each the recipient of an invitation from Clare’s family to an all-expenses-paid trip back to the villa for a long-overdue celebration of Clare’s life. It’s an invitation none of them want to accept, but they can hardly refuse.

Luca, Harper, Sirina, and David have barely settled into the idyllic estate with the rest of Clare’s family before they become targets of a series of unsettling occurrences. Someone there knows the truth, and as the menacing taunts and threats escalate, it becomes swiftly clear that nothing is as it seems at the Monroe palazzo, and their secret—and their lives—are in danger.
