Words without Borders Releases 8th Annual International Graphic Novels Issue – 2014

Pub Date:

Words without Borders (WWB) magazine announces the publication of the eighth installment of its annual international graphic novels issue.

The issue features work from Russia, Israel, France, Spain, Egypt, and South Korea.

In a stunning piece of graphic reportage, Russian graphic artist Victoria Lomasko takes readers on a behind-the-scenes tour of the underground sex industry in the city of Nizhny Novgorod.

Meanwhile in Mexico City, Spanish graphic novelist Ángel De la Calle follows the trail of the elusive Tina Modotti, renowned photographer, Edward Weston muse, and militant Communist.

And the pseudonymous government employee Abel Lanzac and Christophe Blain cut right to the chase in their unsparing and hilarious account of bureaucratic travails in a French minister’s office.

Editorial director Susan Harris said of this month’s issue, “The mix of reportage, memoir, satire, and fiction, and the range of countries represented, makes this one of our richest graphic compilations to date.”
