Acquires

Of Bookfinder.Com NEW YORK, NY/ 11/08/05—Abebooks.com, an online marketplace for new and used books, has acquired BookFinder.com, a price comparison shopping service.

In announcing the deal, Hannes Blum, president and CEO of Abebooks.com said “Our goal is to help booklovers find and buy any book from any bookseller anywhere, so the acquisition of BookFinder.com makes perfect sense.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for BookFinder.com to develop and grow,” said Anirvan Chatterjee, CEO and co-founder of BookFinder.com. “With access to Abebooks’ skills, resources and funding, we will be able to expand and help many more book-buyers find and buy books.”

BookFinder.com, a book search engine, lets visitors search for more than 100 million new, used and rare or out-of-print books from partner sites that include Abebooks.com and other major online booksellers. The two companies will continue to operate independently, but Bookfinder.com will have the financial and resource backing of Abebooks.com. Abebooks.com is located in Victoria, British Columbia, and Bookfinder.com is located in Berkley, California.

Online used book buying represents about $609 million of the $2.2 billion online used book market, according to the Book Industry Study Group.
