Maillet Returns

To Timber Press

As Publisher

PORTLAND, OR/7/27/07–Neal Maillet has returned to Timber Press to become publisher of the Portland, Ore.-based book publisher, which also has offices in the UK. Maillet served as executive editor of the company from 1993 to 22004, but has since been an acquisitions and business editor at Jossey-Bass Publishers, an imprint of John Wiley &Sons.

Timber Press, founded in 1980 by Richard Abel and acquired by Workman Publishing in 2006, has become a leading publisher for sophisticated gardeners, horticulturists, botanists, naturalists, and landscape professions with more than 400 titles in print. From its U.K. office, the company also acquires books by such talented European horticulturalists as Piet Oudolf, who designed the Battery Park memorial garden in New York City. Timber Press’s new owner Workman Publishing, founded in 1972, publishes a wide range of books and calendars.

In the book publishing industry for 20 years, Maillet also has experience in natural history, gardening and reference books. Earlier in his career he worked for Facts on File and Bantam Books. He will be moving to Portland from his present home in San Francisco.
