London Book Festival Call For Entries

Pub Date:

LONDON/July 31, 2013–The 2013 London Book Festival has issued a call for entries to its annual awards honoring the best of international publishing.

The 2013 London Book Festival will consider books in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian in the competition. The works may be published, self-published or independent publisher non-fiction, fiction, children's books, poetry, art/photography, teenage, how-to, audio/spoken word, comics/graphic novels, e-books, wild card (anything goes!), science fiction, romance and biography/autobiographical works. Works published after January 1, 2010 are eligible.

A panel of judges will determine the winners based on the following criteria:

1) The story-telling ability of the author;

2) The potential of the work to win wider recognition from the international publishing community.

Our grand prize for the 2013 London Book Festival Author of the Year is a $1500 appearance fee in U.S. funds and a flight from your city of entry to our awards ceremony, to be held in January, 2014 in London at the British Library.

Last year's grand prize winner, "The Long and Whining Road," reached No. 5 in the Amazon Bestsellers travel section, garnering five stars and 1,000 downloads per month. Author Simeon Courtie and family, whose adventures are chronicled in the book, will be touring U.K. book and VW festivals this summer. He continues to broadcast on BBC radio.
