June 18 – June 24, 2012 Edition KNOPF Books to Publish Three Paolini Titles
New York, NY, June 18, 2012Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers will publish the INHERITANCE DELUXE EDITION by Christopher Paolini this fall, it was announced today by Nancy Hinkel, Vice President and Publishing Director of the imprint. On October 23rd, Knopf will simultaneously release Inheritance in paperback, as well as the Inheritance cycle Boxed Set, which includes the four books that make up the series (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance), in paperback.
The new releases follow the November 8, 2011 publication of Inheritance, the fourth and final installment of the #1 bestselling Inheritance cycle, which achieved the highest first-day sale in 2011 of any fiction or non-fiction, adult or children’s title published in the U.S. and Canada, selling a staggering 489,500 copies in print, digital and audio formats.
The INHERITANCE DELUXE EDITION (On sale October 23, 2012 / $29.99) includesin addition to the full text of Inheritancegorgeous never-before-seen artwork by Christopher Paolini; an exclusive, full-color foldout poster by award-winning artist John Jude Palencar; a letter from Jeod, one of Eragon’s confidantes, summarizing life after the final scene of the series; a letter from Paolini to fans reflecting on the series, and a new scene within the text.
A major national marketing and publicity campaign will support the new releases, and will include select national appearances by Paolini at publication. Details regarding events will be announced at a later date.
The Inheritance cycle is available in 125 countries in 49 languages, and together the four books in the series have sold 34 million copies worldwide. Executive Editor Michelle Frey edits the series.
Paolini toured eighteen cities in the U.S. and Canada in support of the release of Inheritance, beginning in November 2011, followed by a European tour that took him to fourteen cities and towns in six countries. Paolini is currently touring in Australia and New Zealand.
