New York, NY /06/21/05—Kathy Schneider has been named Vice President, Associate Publisher of the Harper imprint of the General Books Group of HarperCollins Publishers. She will start in this role on July 5, reporting to Jonathan Burnham, Senior Vice President and Publisher of the imprint.

Schneider has been serving as Vice President and Publisher of Miramax Books since 2001. She joined Talk/Miramax Books as Publishing Director to launch the imprint in 2000, playing a key role in its development with a focus in the areas of sales and marketing. Prior to joining Miramax, Schneider was a Vice President, Director of Marketing at Random House from 1990-2000. In this role she was responsible for sales and marketing for several imprints including Villard, Times Books, Princeton Review, Reference, Fodor’s and the client publishers: National Geographic and Discover Books.

Schneider also worked in the marketing department of Prentice Hall and in the direct mail division of Crown Publishers. She started her career as a bookstore manager for several bookstores in the Princeton, N.J. area and has served on the executive committee of New York Is Book Country and is a member of The Women’s Media Group in New York.

“I’m thrilled that Kathy will be coming to Harper,” says Michael Morrison, President and Group Publisher of the HarperMorrow division of the General Books Group. “I personally experienced her incredible marketing savvy when we worked together at Random House, and Jonathan credits her with much of Miramax’s success. Kathy’s smarts, work ethic and humor will allow her to hit the ground running in this role.”

Burnham concurs. “Kathy is a phenomenal force: she combines formidable organizational skills with real marketing know-how. She and I worked together very closely for five years at Miramax Books, and I am looking forward to continuing our partnership in the larger context of Harper.”

Jonathan Burnham was named Senior Vice President and Publisher of the Harper imprint of the General Books Group in March 2005. He reports to Michael Morrison, President and Group Publisher of the HarperMorrow division of the General Books Group.
