HarperCollins

to Expand Latino

Imprint, Rayo

NEW YORK, NY/09/24/04—HarperCollins will increase output for its Latino imprint, Rayo, to 75 titles annually, and has promoted Rene Alegria to editorial director and publisher. HarperCollins launched the line in 2000 with only 12 titles. Two new editors have been added to the staff—Andrea Montejo and Clara La Rosa. Montejo has been an assistant editor at Rayo, and Rosa comes to the house from the Latino magazine, POZ.

Raymond Garcia has been named to the new position of associate publisher of Rayo, reporting to Alegria. Garcia formerly served as president of REG/strategic innovations, a design company, before joining HarperCollins.

The expanded Rayo list will include self-help, spiritual books, general reference and bilingual children’s books.
