Former House Speaker

Newt Gingrich

Announces New Book

WASHINGTON, D.C./09/27/04—Regnery Publishing announced today, on the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Contract with America, that it will publish a major new book by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Gingrich, the architect of the Republican revolution which led to control of the U.S. House of Representatives, will examine the economic, social and geopolitical issues facing America in the post- September 11th world.

In this significant new book set to be released in January of 2005, Gingrich will outline his diagnosis of our current political gridlock, and his prescription for maintaining America’s role as the beacon of hope and freedom in the world.

“The decisions we make in the next four years—decisions on the big issues like national security, strategic alliances, taxes, international trade, health care, education—will determine America’s fate for generations to come,” said Gingrich. “If we make the wrong decisions, if we pursue the wrong path, America will begin an elegant decline to faded glory and second-rate influence. If Americans commit themselves to the right path, our nation will continue to lead the world toward safety, prosperity and freedom.”

“We are thrilled to be publishing Speaker Gingrich’s next book,” said Regnery’s President and Publisher, Marji Ross. “We believe this book will have a lasting impact on the future of our country, and we believe there is no one better to grapple with these issues than Newt Gingrich.”

According to Randy Evans of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, who represented Gingrich in the negotiations, Regnery Publishing, Inc. acquired world publishing rights to the book — including pre- and post-publication serial rights, English language and translation rights, and electronic rights. The terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
