Ireland’s Albedo One
Announces Top
Short Fiction Winners

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK/10/15/07–The 2006-2007 Aeon Award for short fiction, sponsored by the Irish sci-fi/fan/horror publication, Albedo One, were announced by the organization this week. Grand judge Ian Watson, choosing from a short list of six stories, picked “Angelus” by Nina Allan as the grand prize winner. The award was announced at the European Science Fiction Convention in Copenhagen, Denmark. Allen received a cash prize of €1000 and publication of her story in the 34th edition of Albedo One.

In announcing the award, Ian Watson said Nina Allan’s story was “beautifully written and paced and enigmatic yet in an entirely lucid way”. Second- and third-place awards went to “Isle of Beauty” by Larry Taylor and “The White Knight” by Devon Code-McNeil, respectively. Their stories also will appear in Albedo One, a magazine which focuses on science fiction, fantasy, horror and speculative fiction.

Albedo One will soon announce changes to the third annual Aeon Award, including cash prizes for second and third place.
