Bookstore Sales Rise in September

WASHINGTON, DC/AUTHORLINK NEWS/11/17/09–The U.S. Census Bureau reported yesterday that bookstore sales gained 7% in September to $1.58 billion. The healthy jump is attributed to increases at college stores and to the mid-month release of THE LOST SYMBOL.

Despite gains in both August and September, overall sales for the year-to-date rose only 0.7% to $12.52 billion.

In comparison, overall retail sales fell 6.5% for September and 9.7% for the year to date.
