LONDON/2/22/06BBC Audiobooks has acquired the audio rights to four book titles picked for appearances on the Richard & Judy Book Club show. The BBC successfully released an audiobook of The Time Travelers Wife (Vintage) last year. The popular UK show spurred enough sales to prompt the BBC to pick up as many of this years book picks as possible, according to BBC Audiobooks editor Fiona MacKenzie-Williams.
The editor said the minute the book picks were released by the show, the BBC secured rights to the four titles, and recording began as soon as contracts were signed. The first of the four titles, Arthur & George (Cape) was to be released for this weeks Richard & Judy show. The other three Empress Orchid (Bloomsbury) March (HarperPerennial), and Moondust (Bloomsbury), are scheduled for release March 6.
The Richard & Judy show airs at 5 p.m. on weekdays in the UK.
