Brings Liberal Blast
From Media, Blogs
9/14/2006—ABC-TVs Path to 9/11, a television mini-series on the events leading up to the US terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, has been blasted in the liberal media for being inaccurate and irresponsible.
The two-part program aired on ABC-TV on September 10 and 11 and was immediately followed Tuesday with blasts from The New York Times, the Washington Post, and a host of blogs and television programs.
American Airlines issued a statement calling the program an inaccurate and irresponsible portrayal of suspected terrorist leader Mohammed Atta checking in that day to board Flight 11 at Logan International Airport in Boston.
President Clinton chastised the show for apparently blaming events on his previous administration.
The New York Times and the Washington Post also ran stories of objection and a story by Associated Press said the damage has been done, leaving a shambles of the film’s stated mission: to chronicle how government spanning two administrations betrayed the trust of its citizens.
Scholastic pulled an online companion educational guide for the series, posted last month, and has created a new guide that covers differences between dramatization and factual reporting.
Scholastic chairman, president and CEO Dick Robinson said the original guide distributed to about 25,000 high school teachers . . . did not meet our high standards for dealing with controversial issues.”
ABC is running the series as streaming video on its site, and offers everyone a say in the program. Viewers can cast their votes and leave comments about the program. More information about the program is at: http://abc.go.com/movies/thepathto911/ .
