Firms Merge
LaGrange, IL/5/2/07-Two of the Midwest’s largest independent publishers’ rep groups, Fujii Associates and Heinecken & Associates, will merge into a single firm effective January 1,2008. The company will be re-named Fujii Associates, with Don Sturtz serving as president. Ted Heinecken, who founded the firm by the same name, will remain with the company indefinitely.
The newly-merged firm, to be headquartered in LaGrange, Illinois, will employ eight full-time reps and two part-time reps, and will cover 17 Midwestern and Southwestern states, including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas.
Fujii Associates was founded in 1967 by Hank Fujii. Sturtz bought the company in 1998 from Jerry Stroud in 1998. Heinecken & Associates was founded in 1978 and merged in the early 1980s with Midwest Book Travelers.
