Signs Book Deal

On Michael Jackson

NEW YORK, NY/06/22/05—Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, has acquired worldwide English-language rights to a yet untitled book by journalist Diane Dimond about Michael Jackson. Dimond is the controversial journalist who broke the story of Jackson’s child molestation charges in 1993.

Simon & Schuster, which has scheduled release of the book this fall, is banking on the popularity of the subject and its controversial author to sell a lot of books. Dimond’s coverage of the case has favored prosecution. The author is said to reveal never-before-told facts about Michael Jackson and the courtroom case against him. While Dimond is quoted in a New York Times piece June 16 as saying she has never called Jackson a pedophile or said he was guilty, but she said “it is inappropriate for a 46-year-old man to sleep with other people’s children.”

Dimond’s agent is Wayne Kabak of William Morris Agency.
