Becomes Bestseller May 7, 2008–Self-published author William P. Young continues to hold his place on the USA Today bestseller list for his debut novel, The Shack. His book became a bestseller when Christian radio, websites and blogs picked up the buzz about his book. The book has now shipped 750,000 copies and the author is talking with New York publishers. Young and two other men, Wyne Jackobsen and Brad Cummings, published the book themselves under the name Windblown Media. they then launched a word-of-mouth, church-to-church campagin to get copies of the book sold.
Young’s original goal when he finished the book in 2005 was to get it copied and bound at Kinko’s in time to give copies to his kids for Christmas.
