The Children’s Book Council and Every Child a Reader announced the winners of the seventh annual Children’s Choice Book Awards (CCBA) at a charity gala benefitting Every Child a Reader in New York City May 19. In the only national book awards program where the winning titles are selected by kids and teens, Rush Limbaugh won Author of the Year for his book, Rush Revere and The Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures With Exceptional Americans (Threshold Editions/Simon & Schuster).
The announcement is an annual highlight of Children’s Book Week (May 12-18, 2014). Young readers across the country voted in record numbers for their favorite books, author, and illustrator at bookstores, school libraries, and at ccbookawards.com, casting more than 1,261,000 votes.

Launched in 2008 by the Children’s Book Council and Every Child a Reader, the CCBA program was created to provide young readers with an opportunity to voice their opinions about the books being written for them and to help develop a reading list that will motivate children to read more and cultivate a love of reading.
