Macaulay Imprint
NEW YORK, NY/4/3/08–Roaring Brook Press, owned by Macmillan, will launch a new children’s imprint, David Macaulay Studio, in 2011. Named for the award-winning author of The Way Things Work, Pyramid, Mosque and Unbuilding, the imprint will include two new books by Macaulay, Home Sweet Home, about the Earth’s ecological systems, and a book involving American history. Another book by Macaulay is due to be released this fall by his former long-time publisher Houghton Mifflin. Macaulay’s editor Walter Lorraine recently retired from HM.
Macaulay will serve as creative director of the new imprint which will publish future titles by Macaulay as well as works by other authors.
The Macaulay imprint will be a significant addition to Roaring Brook Press, which has been expanding its children’s list for several years with a special focus on nonfiction. It’s newest nonfiction imprint, FlashPoint, will be launched this spring.
Roaring Brook publisher Simon Boughton said the Macaulay titles lend themselves to very broad distribution, both in print and in digital platforms.
