~~On March 11, 2014, Vintage Books will release a new edition of Bob Colacello’s landmark intimate biography HOLY TERROR: Andy Warhol Close Up. Originally published in 1990—three years after the artist’s death at age fifty-eight—HOLY TERROR has long been viewed as the best of the Warhol accounts, including his own. To mark the occasion, three New York cultural institutions will dedicate programming to Colacello, Warhol, and HOLY TERROR:
March 11, 2014: Strand Bookstore will launch the new edition with an event featuring Colacello in conversation with Vincent Fremont, a Factory staple and longtime exclusive agent for the Warhol Foundation; Brigid Berlin, star of “Chelsea Girls” and a Warhol confidante for more than twenty years; and Billy Name, the infamous Warhol Superstar who was one of the artist’s closest friends and collaborators.
April 10, 2014: Film Forum will present a rare screening of Warhol’s 1968 film “Lonesome Cowboys.” Recipient of the Best Film Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival, Warhol’s satire of Hollywood Westerns stars Superstars Joe Dallesandro and Viva in the story of a quintet of cowpoke brothers who land in a dusty Arizona ghost town and molest a madam—and each other. Colacello will introduce the film and discuss filmmaking in the Warhol milieu.
April 24–May 24, 2014: Steven Kasher Gallery will mount “Bob Colacello: Holy Terror,” an exhibition of more than thirty of Colacello’s photographs, including some not seen in the book.
Colacello will also be a part of The Andy Warhol Museum’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, May 15-17, 2014. Appropriately housed in a former industrial factory in Warhol’s hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, The Andy Warhol Museum is the largest museum in the country dedicated to a single artist.
