March 1-15, 2005 Edition PEOPLE Jennifer Hershey Moves to Random House
NEW YORK, NY, 2/17/05Jennifer Hershey has been named editorial director at Random House, effective March 14. She joins RH after serving in the same capacity at Putnam.
Jennifer, who will report to Jonathan Karp, will apparently acquire both fiction and non-fiction at Random House, as she did at Putnam
Friedland Leaves Harper After 15 Years
NEW YORK, NY/2/15/05HarperCollins executive editor Susan Friedland has left the company and reportedly will not be replaced. Well known for her cookbook editing, she had been with HarperCollins for 15 years. Friedland apparently has no immediate plans to return to publishing.
The cookbook market is crowded and is not expanding. HarperCollins is taking a hard look at all of its imprints and is reorganizing many operations and lines.
Rawlinson Joins Time Warner
NEW YORK, NY/2/18/05Nora Rawlinson, former editor-in-chief of Publishers Weekly, will join Time Warner Book Group as vice president of library services, effective March 1, 2005. She will report to Maureen Egen. She will oversee Time Warner’s marketing to and growing the library market. Early in her career, Rawlinson served as a Baltimore County librarian.
