L:R: Dan Houser and Elle Osili-Wood

Following the announcement of his debut novel, A BETTER PARADISE Volume One: An Aftermath, based on the award-winning, #1 audio fiction series, the legendary games writer will be in conversation with TV presenter and broadcaster Elle Osili-Wood in a session titled Storytelling and World Building from Video Games to Audio Fiction to Novels.

Previously the lead writer and creative director of the iconic Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto video games, in his keynote Dan Houser will give insights into how his love of books has influenced his storytelling, reveal more about his creative process, and explore the experience of writing for interactive and linear formats. A BETTER PARADISE Volume One: An Aftermath is the first story in an expansive new universe created and written by Houser and is one of several original universes he is now developing under the Absurd Ventures banner.

Dan Houser commented: “I am excited to be taking part in this keynote discussion at LBF25. The London Book Fair has been a globally important event for writers for over half a century now, and it’s a real honour to make my first appearance there and speak a bit about my career writing and world-building for open world video games, audio fiction and now my first novel.”

Adam Ridgway, Director of The London Book Fair, said: “We’re thrilled that Dan Houser will be joining us for an exclusive keynote next week, sharing his insights on the intersection between writing for books, audio fiction and video games. A renowned storyteller and creative mind, we can’t wait to learn how Dan will bring his unique experience of universe building to the literary world, and the LBF audience will be the first to hear him discuss how he applied this to his newly announced novel A Better Paradise.”

Dan Houser will be on the Main Stage of The London Book Fair on Wednesday 12 March, at 10:15 – 10:45. More details here.
