Hachette Renames
Business Imprint,
Teams With UK Unit
NEW YORK, NY/5/23/07-As part of its buyout agreement with Time Warner Book Group, Hachette Book Group USA is in the process of renaming some of its divisions and imprints to remove the “Warner” name. Several months ago, Warner Books became Grand Central Publishing and the division moved its offices near Grand Central Station in New York. Now, Hachette will rename its Warner Business imprint Business Plus, and will pair up with Business Plus at Headline Hodder in the UK, a Hachette subsidiary.
The new name will become effective with the company’s September 2007 titles, bringing with it a joint acquisition strategy with an International focus. Business Plus USA, directed by Rick Wolf, and Business Plus UK, managed by editorial director David Wilson will work as a team to acquire world rights for business titles.
Hachette Book Group USA (HBG) was created when Hachette Livre, a French publishing company, acquired Time Warner Book Group from Time Warner in 2006. Hachette Livre is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lagardère, a company that is active on a worldwide basis in the areas of communications and media (books, press, audiovisual and distribution/retailing of cultural products).
Grand Central’s imprints include 5-Spot, Solana, Springboard Press, Business Plus, Forever, Twelve, Vision and the newly-named Wellness Central (formerly Warner wellness).
Other Hachette divisions in the U.S. are FaithWords, Center Street, Little, Brown and Company, Little Brown Books for Young Readers and Hachette Book Group Digital media.
