G.P. Putnam’s to Offer New
Title In Knitting Club Series
NEW YORK, NY/Authorlink News/04/23/09–G. P. Putnam’s Sons will publish KNIT THE SEASON: A Friday Night Knitting Club Novel, the third book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series by Kate Jacobs, on November 3, 2009. North American rights were acquired by Rachel Kahan, Senior Editor at G. P. Putnam’s Sons, from Dorian Karchmar at the William Morris Agency. Berkley Books will issue the paperback edition next year.
Ms. Jacobs’s debut novel, The Friday Night Knitting Club, became a runaway best-seller in hardcover after just 14 days on sale, hitting the New York Times’ extended bestseller list and staying there for 7 weeks, going from an initial printing of 18,000 to over 80,000 copies in print. As a Berkley paperback edition, The Friday Night Knitting Club made it to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, and remained on the list for more than a year. The paperback now has over one million copies in print. Universal Pictures has optioned the movie rights, with Julia Roberts slated to produce and star in the film. Jacobs’s second bestselling novel in the series, Knit Two, was published in hardcover in November 2008 and will be released in paperback by Berkley in November 2009.

The Friday Night Knitting Club series follows a diverse group of women who meet weekly to knit at the Walker & Daughter store on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. KNIT THE SEASON begins a year after the end of Knit Two, with the college-age Dakota Walker traveling to Scotland to spend Christmas with her Gran. There, she learns about her late mother’s happy Christmases past, as a child, a young woman in love, and a doting new mother. Once again, Jacobs provides readers with a moving story that poignantly affirms the necessity of friends and family. The book will include knitting patterns and recipes.
Kate Jacobs grew up near Vancouver, British Columbia, and moved to New York to pursue a Master’s Degree at New York University. A journalist, she worked with such magazines as Redbook, Working Woman and Family Life and was later a freelance writer and editor at the website for Lifetime Television. Kate lives in Southern California with her husband and dog. She is also the author of Comfort Food, which was just released by Berkley in paperback and debuted at #24 on the New York Times Extended Bestseller list after one week on sale.
