Ex-BBC Head to Sign
Million Dollar Deal
With HarperCollins UK
LONDON/02/06/04—Greg Dyke, the fired director general of the BBC, is expected to sign a £1m book deal with a major publisher (probably HarperCollins UK). In the book, he will tell his side of the scandolous fight between the broadcaster and the government. As a result of the row, Dyke wound up losing his job.
Dyke has been publicly critical of Fox News’ coverage of the Iraq war, and Fox, in turn, has acused the BBC of “lying.” Dyke is expected to be highly critical of the government and former Downing Street communications chief Alastair Campbell.
Agent Vivienne Greene, who also represents Dyke’s friend Melvyn Bragg, is negotiating the book deal. Dyke has been sought for highly-paid speaking engagements since his departure.
HarperCollins is owned by media giant Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.
