December 1-15, 2004 Edition PEOPLE Marie Massie Joins Lippincott Mcquilkin As Agency Partner
NEW YORK, NY/11/17/04Lippincott McQuilkin & Co. announced today that Maria Massie, previously of Witherspoon & Associates and Inkwell Management, will be joining them as a partner. The literary agency is to be known now as Lippincott Massie McQuilkin.
Massie, who has been with Witherspoon & Associates since its inception in 1991, represents authors including 2004 National Book Award finalist Kate Walbert, Tom Perrotta, Jennifer Chiaverini, Lucinda Rosenfeld, Peter Ho Davies, Mark Rotella and Don Lee, has handled all foreign rights for Witherspoon, making deals in foreign territories around the world for clients including Lucy Grealy and Lauren Slater.
While continuing to build her own client list in the areas of fiction, memoir, and narrative non-fiction, Massie will be handling foreign rights for the rest of the Lippincott Massie McQuilkin client list.

Founded in 2003 by Will Lippincott, previously publisher of The New Republic and strategy+business magazines, and Rob McQuilkin, an editor at Warner Books and Anchor Books/Doubleday before joining Ike Williams and Jill Kneerim at the Palmer & Dodge Agency, Lippincott Massie McQuilkin focuses on fiction, history, sociology, politics, public policy, and psychology, and represents clients including: novelist Liza Ward; Air America personality David Sirota; 2000 National Book Award finalist Kim Addonizio; NYU Professor and Brookings Institution scholar Paul Light; NEA, Guggenheim and Bunting recipient Natasha Trethewey; Colby Award-winning historian Bryan Mark Rigg; UCLA professor of psychology Shelley Taylor; and epidemiologist Sir Michael Marmot, among others.
