B&N Offers eReader for iPhone/iPod touch
Among a number of new initiatives at Barnes & Noble is the ability for consumers to automatically download and read their latest Barnes & Noble eBook purchases and samples from their iPhone or iPod Touch device. In addition, one can download eBooks at his or her computer from B&Ns online library.
In July, B&N announced a Bookstore app for mobile customers to allow them to search B&Ns bookstore anytime. Users simply snap a photo to search millions of products. Using the iPhone or iPod touch camera, they just snap a photo of the front cover and within seconds get product details, editorial reviews, and customer ratings – even find and reserve a copy in the store closest to them.
However, the latest feature actually allows one to read books on their iPhone/iPod Touch or on their computer. To access the service, users go t the Apple App Store and search B&NeReader. Or from a desktop, users download the B&N eReader from iTunes.
To kick off the new service, B&N is offering 6 Free eBooks! Users just install the eReader and sign into their B&N.com account. In addition to automatic downloads of eBook purchases, B&N offers bookmarks, note taking and highlighting, lookup function for dictionary, Wikipedia or Google, and other features.
