Andrew Weil

Protegee to Write

Book On Stress

NEW YORK, NY/2/21/08–Random House will publish an innovative book on stress by Roberta Lee, M.D., who trained with Andrew Weil, it was announced last week by Gina Centrello, President and Publisher of the Random House Publishing Group. Caroline Sutton pre-empted North American rights from Richard Pine at Inkwell Management and will edit the book.

Dr. Lee, Medical Director of the Beth Israel Hospital’s Continuum Center for Health and Healing, has in her own practice developed a paradigm-shifting approach to stress and the terrible health problems it can cause. "In this book, she identifies a threat to our health that is both entirely new and painfully familiar," comments Sutton. "She has put her finger on the cause of a spreading health crisis but she goes beyond telling us how to manage it—she gives us the tools to stop and reverse it."

In 1997, having completed her studies at George Washington Medical School, Dr. Lee became one of four graduates in the first class of Andrew Weil’s Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. Prior to that, she spent five years with the U.S. Public Health Service in Micronesia, where, she said, she learned as much about health and healing from the Traditional Healers she worked beside as she had from her formal Western medical education. She is the co-editor of the leading academic textbook on Integrative Medicine. This is her first book for the general public.
