Books are lasting, thoughtful perspectives on the world in which the author lives, even if the person is writing about fictional worlds. These authors usually take years of effort, contemplation and solitude, being with one’s own internal self. When you write two-or three hundred carefully structured pages you discover the flaws n your own thinking, and come face to face with yourself. This rarely happens in sixty seconds, or when one flits and scrolls through thousands of external images and messages on one’s devices. Books cannot be misinformed (though the information may not be factually correct). That is because the book its self is a reflection of one person’s deep experience of the world, presented after much individual consideration. Each of us has the right to draw conclusions about right and wrong. Most novelists are driven to tell their personal truth about humanity. It is doubtful that obsessive scrolling and instant bursts of thought contribute much to human growth. Take the time to read a book and you might discover your own worth, even if you disagree with the content.
