New York, NY/AUTHORLINK NEWS/May 10, 2011–Ann Godoff, President and Editor in Chief, The Penguin Press, an imprint of Penguin Group (USA), is bringing back Scott Moyers as Publisher, it was announced today by Susan Petersen Kennedy, President, Penguin Group (USA). Mr. Moyers’ appointment is effective May 16 and he will report to Ms. Godoff.

When The Penguin Press was founded by Ms. Godoff in 2003 and introduced its first list in Winter 2004, Mr. Moyers was Senior Editor and played a key role in the imprint’s immediate success. The Penguin Press has been profitable every year from the very beginning. Three of its titles have won the Pulitzer Prize, most recently Ron Chernow’s Washington: A Life in the biography category, and a significant number of its books have become New York Times bestsellers, including major titles by such award-winning, bestselling authors as Michael Pollan, Thomas Pynchon, Maira Kalman, Niall Ferguson, Steve Coll and Zadie Smith, among many others.

Susan Kennedy commented, “We had every confidence that when The Penguin Press launched its first list the imprint would grow into a significant contributing entity within the Group. The imprint has been profitable every year and Scott Moyers rejoining Ann’s outstanding publishing team insures that The Penguin Press will continue to grow and be a home for serious thinkers.”

Mr. Moyers’ reputation as being among the most important editors in the industry was well established when he left The Penguin Press to join The Wylie Agency in 2007. During his time as an agent, he participated in many industry changing initiatives on the part of this clients and successfully placed their books with every publisher. Mr. Moyers’ unique experience as an editor and an agent will be invaluable to The Penguin Press.
