Wife of Former
To Write Memoir
NEW YORK, NY/1/18/07Hyperion has announced plans to publish a book by Dina Matos McGreevey, the ex-wife of former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey, who resigned from office in August 2004 with the public pronouncement that he was a gay American. In her memoir, SILENT PARTNER, Ms. Matos McGreevey will speak openly and honestly of her life with the former governor. The book is scheduled for publication in spring 2007.
Executive Editor Brenda Copeland negotiated the deal with Heather Mitchell of Gelfman Schneider Literary Agents. Of the acquisition, Copeland says, Like many people, I was impressed with Mrs. McGreeveys grace and fortitude under what were clearly some of the most difficult circumstances imaginable. As I watched the coverage and read Jim McGreevey’s speech, I found myself wondering what Mrs. McGreevey was going throughbefore, during, and after this experience. That’s the story I’ve always wanted to know, and that’s the story she has told in Silent Partner."
Of the deal Ms. Matos McGreevey said: Ive had a lot of requests for interviews and appearances, but thought it best for my daughter and myself to stay out of the public maelstrom. But two years have passed and still I am the subject of much speculation as to the nature of my relationship with my husband. Enough is enough."
Dina Matos McGreevey is executive director of the Columbus Foundation in Newark, New Jersey. She lives in New Jersey with her five-year old daughter Jacqueline.
