S&S Names
Painton to Oversee
Adult Trade Editorial

NEW YORK, NY/1/21/08–Priscilla Painton, former editor at Time, has been named editor-in-chief of Simon & Schuster’s Adult Trade Division, effective March 3. She succeeds Michael Korda, who now serves as editor-in-chief emeritus. Painton will report to David Rosenthal, executive vice president and publisher of the Adult Trade division.

Painton served in several positions at Time, joining the company in 1989. She became the magazine’s top female editor and its deputy managing editor. Painton’s media contacts are expected to be helpful in the promotion of the divison’s books. She is also expected to bring “a very fresh perspective” to the publishing house.

Earlier in her career, she worked at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and The Washington Post.
