Gift Book Line
Naperville, IL (Authorlink News, December 16, 2008)–Sourcebooks has acquired the partial assets of Nashville-based Cumberland House, known for its gift book series, Why a Daughter Needs a Dad. Sourcebooks publisher Dominique Raccah said the acquisition would allow Sourcebooks to significantly expand its gift and regional lines. Sourcebooks is acquiring about 90 backlist and planned titles.
Cumberland founder Ron Pitkin will now serve as executive acquisitions editor for Sourcebooks. Both imprints will remain, with Paul Mikos acquisitions editor for Cumberland House. Chris Bauerle, Cumberland vice president of marketing, will join Sourcebooks as director of mass market and specialty retail sales.
Doninique and Ron have been friends for many years. He said he is pleased to contribute to "one of the most exciting publishing companies in America."
Sourcebooks was founded in 1987 by Dominique Raccah, who left a promising career with advertising giant Leo Burnett, cashed in $17,000 from her 401K plan and launched Sourcebooks from her upstairs bedroom in Naperville, Illinois.
Cumberland House is based in Nashville, TN. It was not clear whether the offices will be moved to Illinois or remain in Tennessee.
