Simon & Schuster to Publish Dick Cheney Memoir

NEW YORK/Authorlink News/06/24/09–Former Vice President Dick Cheney will publish his much-anticipated memoir with Threshold Editions, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, Inc.

Threshold Editions has acquired all world, serial, and electronic rights to the book, which will also be published as an audio book from Simon & Schuster Audio. Publication of the yet-to-be-titled work is expected in Spring 2011. Simon & Schuster President and CEO Carolyn Reidy and Robert Barnett of Williams & Connolly negotiated the agreement for the memoir.

Few Americans alive today can match the breadth of former Vice President Dick Cheney’s service as a statesman, policymaker, and politician. The former Vice President will collaborate with his daughter Liz Cheney, attorney and former State Department senior official, to offer his reflections on world affairs, American politics and campaigns, conservative ideology, and the critical events of our era.

“It has been a tremendous privilege to serve during some of the most interesting and challenging times, as well as with some of the most fascinating people, in American history,” said former Vice President Cheney. “I look forward to writing about these experiences for the first time.”

“For more than forty years, Dick Cheney served at the highest levels of government, and in sharing his unique perspective on the events he witnessed, it will become apparent to the reader why he was given positions of great responsibility by four different presidents,” said Carolyn Reidy. His memoir will reveal not only his legendary grasp of the major issues we have faced and his command of the details of policy and politics, but also his abiding passion for our country. It promises to be a work of paramount interest no matter where you stand in the political spectrum.”

Louise Burke, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Threshold Editions, added, “I am thrilled Threshold will be publishing former Vice President Cheney’s book. We think his candid account of his many years of service to the country, much of it during the most pivotal events of our times, will be mandatory reading for anyone interested in recent history.” Threshold’s Editor in Chief, Mary Matalin, a former White House and Cheney advisor, noted, “the Cheney memoir will be the most important and unique political and policy treatise in a generation.”
