Sept 6 – Sept 12, 2010 Edition Quercus Publishing to Enter USA With Barnes & Noble Unit

LONDON /AUTHORLINK NEWS/September 7, 2010–Book publisher Quercus Publishing PLC today said it will enter the U.S. and Canadian fiction market next year through a joint venture with Sterling Publishing, a subsidiary of global book-selling giant Barnes & Noble Inc. The report appeared today in Automated Trader via Dow Jones.

Quercus, which publishes the hugely successful Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson, has cut a three-year deal with Sterling to publish fiction through a new imprint named Silver Oak.

The new business, which will be owned equally by Quercus and Sterling, will publish books selected by Quercus from its list of fiction titles.

Quercus Chief Executive Mark Smith said the company expects Silver Oak to materially contribute to its financial results.

Silver Oak will launch in January with the publication of crime novel Three Seconds by Swedish authors Roslund and Hellstrom, which it said both Quercus and Sterling expect to become a major bestseller.
