Carol Stream, IL/2/25/04—Tyndale House Publishers, the Christian publisher, reports that it has sold 150,000 copies of their color movie tie-in book THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, and plans two additional printings. Churches and ministries apparently are ordering the book in bulk. Tyndale House Publishers was founded in 1962 by Kenneth N. Taylor and is based in Carol Stream, IL.

Budget Cuts
Athens, GA/2/25/04—The University of Georgia Press may undergo budget cuts and job layoffs, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution. A third of the university press budget—up to $300,000—may be cut as part of the state’s reassessment of the university system’s budget. A publicity spokesman for the press said cuts may not come to pass, and that even if they do, the publisher might find funding from other sources at the University. The publisher’s recently-launched Internet project, the New Georgia Encyclopedia, should not be affected by the cutback since it is funded separately through the state humanities unit of the University system.
