June 7 – 13, 2010 Edition Disney Names New Publisher

NEW YORK, NY/AUTHORLINK NEWS/June 8, 2010—Disney Publishing Worldwide has named Suzanne Murphy as vice president and publisher. Murphy formerly served as vice president and group publisher of Scholastic Trade. She begins her new job on June 28.

Murphy will oversee all of the group’s imprints, including Disney-Hyperion, Disney-Jump at the Sun, Disney Editions, and Disney Press, as well as licensing, and strategies for both books and digital content. She replaces Jonathan Yaged, who departed Disney earlier this year.

At Scholastic, Murphy launched a number of successful franchises including Suzanne Collins’s bestselling The Hunger Games and the interactive series The 39 Clues.
