B&N Offers eReader for iPhone/iPod touch

Among a number of new initiatives at Barnes & Noble is the ability for consumers to automatically  download and read their latest Barnes & Noble eBook purchases and samples from their iPhone or iPod Touch device.  In addition, one can download eBooks at his or her computer from  B&N’s online library.

In July, B&N  announced a Bookstore app for mobile customers to allow them to search B&N’s bookstore anytime. Users simply snap a photo to search millions of products. Using the iPhone or iPod touch camera, they just snap a photo of the front cover and within seconds get product details, editorial reviews, and customer ratings – even find and reserve a copy in the store closest to them.

However, the latest feature actually allows one to read books on their iPhone/iPod Touch or on their computer. To access the service, users go t the Apple App Store and search “B&NeReader. Or from a desktop, users download the B&N eReader from iTunes.

To kick off the new service, B&N is offering 6 Free eBooks! Users just install the eReader and sign into their B&N.com account. In addition to automatic downloads of eBook purchases, B&N offers bookmarks, note taking and highlighting, lookup function for dictionary, Wikipedia or Google,  and other features.
