Oct 18 – Oct 24, 2010 Edition AAP’s Young Publishing Group to Celebrate National Book Awards

New York, NY, October 20, 2010— The Association of American Publishers’ Young to Publishing Group will host the inaugural House Party: A Celebration of the National Book Awards from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. In an effort to expand the audience and accessibility of the awards, the AAP’s Young to Publishing Group has partnered with the National Book Foundation to secure an exclusive, live feed of the awards ceremony to the House Party. The National Book Awards are among the nation's preeminent literary prizes and one of the most important events on the literary calendar.

Leading up to the awards night, the Young to Publishing Group is also engaging multiple voices and multiple votes in new and novel categories. The Young to Publishing Group will solicit nominations and coordinate voting for the first MyNBA Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in fields outside the National Book Awards categories, including: Best Opening Sentence, Best Debut Novel, Favorite Hero(ine) Under 35 and more. Anyone can vote for nominees among five categories by visiting www.youngtopublishing.com/houseparty/mynba beginning Monday, November 1.

The NBA House Party will be designed and produced by jesGORDON/properFUN, with an auction to benefit Literacy Partners. The browser-based album editing company Pixable will be present to curate event photos and instantly create videos and slideshows to be shared across social media platforms. Robert Redd, the world's first literary product company, will host an interactive literary game held throughout the party based on the legend of Robert Redd. The company will provide signature knit shirts to the winners. Other event sponsors include The Huffington Post, Rent the Runway, Archie Grand, Macaron, and Nine Cakes.

The event is open to all book lovers regardless of AAP affiliation. The inaugural House Party will be held at Random House, 1745 Broadway.
