NBN to Offer
LANHAM, MD/Authorlink News/12/4/08–The National Book Network this month will begin offering its publishing customers digital distribution, short run and print-on-demand services. NBN, a full-service sales, marketing and distribution company for independent publishers, sent a letter last week to its customers announcing the new services. The company will work with a third party digital asset management company to distribute publishers’ titles through a range of digital sales channels.
Until the service is in place, NBN will distribute e-book titles through netLibrary and Kindle. In addition, the company will provide title conversion services for publishers who want to be included in Amazon’s Search Inside and Book programs. NBN will also convert titles from PDF or physical copies to the Kindle format at no charge, for any title that has sold more than 50 copies on Amazon within a year. The company will provide monthly Kindle tracking reports to publishers, and is continuing to expand deals with e-book retailers such as Sony, ebrary, OverDrive and Questia.
The company serves North American and overseas independent publishers of non-fiction, fiction, and children’s titles, providing sales, marketing, order fulfillment, and credit and collections services. NBN will announce its short run POD program within the next few months. Publishers have until February 1 to submit titles for inclusion in the initial digital distribution program.
