NEW YORK, NY/04/16/04—Amy Hertz, formerly executive editor at Riverhead/Penguin, has been hired by Broadway Books/Random House to launch a new, as-yet-unnamed imprint focusing upon a wide range of nonfiction titles, including health, fitness, and spirituality. Hertz will assume her post July 26 and will report to Steve Rubin. The new imprint will release about 15 books per year.

Broadway Books, an imprint of Random House, released its first list in Fall 1996–four politically themed books appropriate to a Presidential election year, including the bestselling Bare Knuckles and Back Rooms by Ed Rollins. With its subsequent lists Broadway has branched out considerably and in its first five years has evolved into a lively publisher of books for a wide variety of areas, both in hardcover and trade paperback.
