comedian Lange’s Book
NEW YORK, NY/10/09/07–Julie Grau, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Spiegel & Grau, has acquired TOO FAT TO FISH, a memoir by the actor, comedian, and radio personality Artie Lange. Richard Abate at Endeavor brokered the deal. Grau acquired North American, first serial, and audio rights to the book in a pre-empt and will edit the book for Random House, Inc.’s Flying Dolphin Press, an imprint of The Doubleday Broadway Publishing Group. Suzanne Herz, Publisher of Flying Dolphin, expects to publish the book in hardcover in early 2009.
Artie Lange is best known as one of the regulars on The Howard Stern Show. He began with the show in October 2001 on terrestrial radio and made the move to Sirius Satellite Radio in 2006, during which time his popularity has skyrocketed. He is one of the most sought-after live comedians of his generation and a frequent guest on The Late Show With David Letterman, Late Night With Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Best Damn Sports Show, Period.
Artie Lange is a natural storyteller whose humor is drawn from the experiences that have defined his life-from his working-class childhood in Union, New Jersey, through his jobs in television on MadTV and Entourage, in films such as Dirty Work, The Bachelor, and Beer League, and on the comedy circuit, to his painfully candid, harrowing, and darkly hilarious battles with drug addiction and general excess. The memoir will be told in a series of stories drawn from his life.
Artie will be working with Anthony Bozza, former Rolling Stone staff writer and author of the New York Times bestseller Whatever You Say I Am: The Life and Times of Eminem and co-author of Tommyland with Tommy Lee and the forthcoming Slash with Slash.
The parent company of Random House, Inc. is Bertelsmann AG.
