Signs Exclusive CD

Deal with Opera Prodigy

New York, NY/2/16/06—Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS), the world’s largest bookseller, has announced an exclusive CD and in-store performance agreement with Holly Stell, the 13-year-old Northern California opera singing sensation. Stell, who was recently dubbed “Petite Pavarotti” by Entertainment Tonight, will launch a multi-city tour where she will perform at select Barnes & Noble stores beginning this March. Her 14-track debut album, Holly Stell, includes the hit song, “Go Where Love Goes,” a duet with Andrea Bocelli for the soundtrack of the feature film, The Lazarus Child, starring Andy Garcia and Angela Bassett. Holly Stell is available only at Barnes & Noble and Barnes & Noble.com ( www.bn.com). Her schedule of in-store performances can be found on Barnes & Noble.com.

“Holly is a dynamic and spirited young lady whose talent and charm are without borders,” said Steven Scott, marketing director, music, for Barnes & Noble. “We’re delighted to offer our customers throughout the United States the opportunity to purchase Holly’s new CD and hear her perform in our stores.”

Holly’s father arranged a performance for her at their local Barnes & Noble store in Fairfield, California, and soon after a second performance at the Fisherman’s Wharf store. On both occasions, audience response and sales were enthusiastic.

Stell has received praise from critics and fans alike. Her credits include performing for the President of the United States and appearing on NBC’s “Tribute On Ice,” featuring Andrea Bocelli. She also is the youngest person to ever perform Mozart’s “Queen Of The Night’s Vengeance Aria,” as well as the youngest soloist to perform at the Jarvis Conservatory’s “A Night Of Opera.” For more information on Holly Stell, go to www.hollystell.com.
