The first session, Understanding Profitable New Business Dynamics For Publishers (Thanks to Digital Printing, and Beyond…), will be presented by Kent Larson, Vice President Print-on-Demand, Bridgeport National Bindery, and Joe Upton, Principal/Vice President Sales & Marketing, Malloy Incorporated on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern. The second session this spring is: Selling in a Digital World: Promoting an Even Playing Field with On-Sale Date Compliance, presented by Tom Stouras, Vice President of Supply Chain and Sales Operations, Macmillan and Mary Catherine McCarthy, Director, Product Group, Ingram Content Group Inc.
The online session will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern.
The first webinar, Understanding Profitable New Business Dynamics for Publishers will focus on publisher/printer relationships. Over the past decade, even the deeply-ingrained publisher/printer relationships have been transformed by digital technologies. The changes go well beyond the obvious issue of e-books. The evolution of printing technology, such as digital, ink-jet, and now printing robots in stores and libraries, opens up significant new opportunities for publishers. These include:

Selling in a Digital World will focus on effective communication of a book’s on sale date, crucial to making sure your product gets on the shelf (virtual or otherwise) when you need it to. The webinar will define the on sale date and how it relates to a publication date, a laydown date, or a street date? And why this date so critical to ensuring a level playing field?
While exploring the history and current use of on sale dates in the book industry, this 60-minute BISG Webcast will review highlights from BISGs best practice document entitled On-Sale Date Compliance: Recommended Best Practices. It will also provide recommendations for the unified definition and transmission of on sale dates, as well as examples of what happens when this important month/day/year combo is misused.
The fee for both sessions is $49 each.
