Head Opens Own

Publishing Company

NEW YORK, NY/08/03/04¬óGilles Dana, former president and publisher of Simon & Schuster Audio, has formed the new publishing company Gildan Media. The company will specialize in personal development and language-instruction programs distributed on CD. The company also plans to launch a software unit, and eventually a book division.

Dana will launch his audio unit in January with Stephen R. Covey among his first authors. Tom Spain, formerly an editorial director and associate publisher at Simon &Schuster, has joined Dana as head of the Gildan Audio unit. Gildan titles will be distributed by Time Warner AudioBooks, which also will handle back office operations.
