SEATTLE, WA/10/10/06—Amazon.com today announced the launch of Product Previews, a new feature available to all Amazon Associates who have book products and other merchandise listed with the web site. Any affiliated publisher or web site can now add a “window” from its site directly into a product on Amazon, without having a viewer leave the first host site. The window allows visitors to see all the Amazon information associated with a product and to then click to the Amazon shopping card to buy a product. Amazon advertises “the earth’s biggest selection of books” in its online shopping community.
The new feature does not take up space on the host merchant’s site. Product Previews are a portal into Amazon.com, directly on the merchant’s Web site. When users hover over a preview-enhanced link, either a text link or image link, a small window appears containing content and information about the product the merchant is advertising including an image, new and used prices, average customer review and availability. It also gives visitors the ability to add the item directly to their Amazon.com shopping carts. Registered associates of Amazon.com can visit a Product Preview page to see how the new feature works. Any publisher with a book listed on Amazon can add a window to the Amazon product of their choosing.
