9/16/03—R.R. Bowker has acquired newsletter publisher Simba Information, in a move to expand its range of services. Simba publishes Book Publishing report, Professional Publishing Report, Educational Marketer, and a number of conference and research reports.

Bowker is known for gathering data from publishers and delivering it in a user-friendly database for libraries and booksellers. Bowker president Michael Cairns said the Simba acquisition will help the company offer valuable information back to publishers.

Stamford, CT-based Simba was owned by Primedia, Inc., publisher of New York magazine, and a number of other trade publications.
