In this AUTHORLINK VIDEO interview, Elizabeth George reveals how she overcame fear of rejection to become a New York Times bestselling author.

Elizabeth George is best known for her famous British Detective Linley mystery series, both in the form of novels and on BBC Television. The reigning queen of the British mystery, however, is an Ohio native who now lives in Washington State. Elizabeth spoke to Authorlink at the recent Whidbey Island Writers Conference, where she talked about what drives her books, and of her struggle to overcome the fear of rejection. Today, Ms. George is the author of 16 best selling novels, a short story collection, and a nonfiction book about writing.

CARELESS IN RED is Elizabeth’s latest Lynley and Havers suspense novel. Lynley discovers the body of a young man who appears to have fallen to his death. The closest town, better known for its tourists and its surfing than its intrigue, seems an unlikely place for murder. However, it soon becomes apparent that a clever killer is indeed at work, and this time Lynley is not a detective but a witness and possibly a suspect.
